I brought along my camera and was able to capture these pictures of the fall colors. I would love to see how you are decorating your homes for fall. Drop me a picture if you get a chance. <br />

<br />
This is a room I considered to be a mix of traditional-transitional-and industrial. The coffee/cocktail table was an inexpensive addition that made a big impression. The pillows on the chairs and sofa and a touch of pattern while the solid taupe drapery add warmth without obstructing the beautiful view. <br />
<br />
Can you imagine this look in your home? Susan Sutherlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06374850649080565499noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7189306870805603718.post-55532952976827472842013-10-15T22:21:00.001-07:002013-10-17T13:40:10.698-07:00Valley Center - Before/After Pictures This afternoon we finished up a small make over in a Valley Center home. Below are some before and after shots, enjoy! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-tOcbNQuLNmXWBeULpHOM6VSxHgweJF_aK94rGiNioKoHl_UNliMa3MZpaHDuh7MLWm-Aq0zWfoCAH3xqalmmbVKgvhC-eGVoJh3wTSHzqMi-fuWrWP41ryucC16njMIf-5z-S2gqgIU/s1600/BEFORE+-+B+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-tOcbNQuLNmXWBeULpHOM6VSxHgweJF_aK94rGiNioKoHl_UNliMa3MZpaHDuh7MLWm-Aq0zWfoCAH3xqalmmbVKgvhC-eGVoJh3wTSHzqMi-fuWrWP41ryucC16njMIf-5z-S2gqgIU/s640/BEFORE+-+B+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
(Above) - This is what Beth and Alan's home looked like the first time I arrived. They had just purchased a beautiful "new" house in Valley Center and needed to give it their personal touch. We quickly started putting a plan together to use some of their existing pieces but to also some new treasures. Read on for the results.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgp4M_60RHYs_WyzsW0HEJ64dcOCT9sxpkm3-L1_W8xkFY0Tuqh765Z48MkBWBQ7TmZnjft03cO9RdczGRqS7oCuZyr0oamARV7FCFMqZF1G6QygABZALNsyYNWqshCWzd_zYU8UrcN4Sk/s1600/AFTER+-+A.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgp4M_60RHYs_WyzsW0HEJ64dcOCT9sxpkm3-L1_W8xkFY0Tuqh765Z48MkBWBQ7TmZnjft03cO9RdczGRqS7oCuZyr0oamARV7FCFMqZF1G6QygABZALNsyYNWqshCWzd_zYU8UrcN4Sk/s640/AFTER+-+A.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
(Above) - To start we added some beautiful panels to either side of the stunning picture window. These are what they call non-functional panels, which means they do not move. They are simply there to add a feeling of warmth, design and sound absorption.<br />
<br />
By the way, meet the newest addition to our team, Dana, our new installer. That now brings us up to a total of three installers to better service the entire San Diego County. I'm blessed to have this great team! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJqIpHotaePSC9eE0P0VWLbXWG-E8urQodLqjTReG5SBFtH0_lvuUT8R8tdvYkhKFegZ1ELxlgCCZ-w9luYFTpfgUkBrDkpahU-vKYO4yaaa9W1QLSIiCB7gjDyFrNVN0KMzcX-cf6_M0/s1600/AFTER+-+B.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJqIpHotaePSC9eE0P0VWLbXWG-E8urQodLqjTReG5SBFtH0_lvuUT8R8tdvYkhKFegZ1ELxlgCCZ-w9luYFTpfgUkBrDkpahU-vKYO4yaaa9W1QLSIiCB7gjDyFrNVN0KMzcX-cf6_M0/s640/AFTER+-+B.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
(Above) - Here is a close up shot (don't mind the white thread that ran into the picture) of the pleated drapery style and the rustic hardware. What worked out beautifully was that the kitchen cabinetry, which adjoined this room, was the same tone as this hardware . . . love it when things come together like this. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgt9y60vKqBDS_C5CMkOLkJZ0RKS5aEsxhX-Z6xPaXfrdMGm1rNfhV9l7-jVAv8p0DpAt-ZzMUuELiF7rWTAzGMYzrl5Vxwvs0ctHwF1W70RaH8W8MbVSoklpXJNfSYlnw78u3xVPC12do/s1600/AFTER+-+C.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgt9y60vKqBDS_C5CMkOLkJZ0RKS5aEsxhX-Z6xPaXfrdMGm1rNfhV9l7-jVAv8p0DpAt-ZzMUuELiF7rWTAzGMYzrl5Vxwvs0ctHwF1W70RaH8W8MbVSoklpXJNfSYlnw78u3xVPC12do/s640/AFTER+-+C.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
(Above) - We added a few pillows to the existing sofa and love seat. The same fabric that was used on the drapery panels was also used in a couple of pillows. The pillow to the far left in the photo has brushed fringe, while the pillow on the right has a self welt. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimuNFlPjqKqCcsmoA87VgPqOyfe45o709gW34i95OLF2GepT5fOKgYkk5YBw6uwrqZU1rPOyunxfQaFNAdBHyHnrMjqJD89h1b6vb9yxc7iT6uNKtAuLeTvD0-59sCLV-NU06Mq18zeL0/s1600/AFTER+-+D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimuNFlPjqKqCcsmoA87VgPqOyfe45o709gW34i95OLF2GepT5fOKgYkk5YBw6uwrqZU1rPOyunxfQaFNAdBHyHnrMjqJD89h1b6vb9yxc7iT6uNKtAuLeTvD0-59sCLV-NU06Mq18zeL0/s640/AFTER+-+D.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
(Above) - Here is the treasure in the room, because we were trying to keep costs under control, I referred Beth and Alan to some local consignment shops. I gave them some ideas as to what to look for and they came home with two chairs, BUT they didn't look like this. We purchased this new rust colored small animal print and called in my great upholsterer . . . ta da . . . two new chairs! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8xIgQfRK3WJIBJpsWUXdiFtVoKlJnTZ5bcMtxPiN1LuQyiHQLRxy-u47MY2BpbgR2Qc2cHYEfYQnJ3gqM-Aovgfu3WDgGGieJsOl_rGDltK1WvFkNQdDxGvE-oM7udeqdC1VoUOnuTNg/s1600/AFTER+-+A+Entire+Room.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="598" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8xIgQfRK3WJIBJpsWUXdiFtVoKlJnTZ5bcMtxPiN1LuQyiHQLRxy-u47MY2BpbgR2Qc2cHYEfYQnJ3gqM-Aovgfu3WDgGGieJsOl_rGDltK1WvFkNQdDxGvE-oM7udeqdC1VoUOnuTNg/s640/AFTER+-+A+Entire+Room.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
(Above) - Here we have a semi-finished room. Beth and Alan still have a few additions to make but over all the room now feels a little more like home and has a finished look. My studio provided the drapery panels and hardware, pillows, and upholstery of chairs. With my suggestions, the far wall was painted the warm rusty red color, the addition of a sofa table and a couple of lamps were added behind the sofa, a palm tree was added for height, an "extra" love seat was removed from the room, an entertainment unit was added on the far right wall. This family is now well on their way to having a house full for the holidays.<br />
<br />
Thanks again to Beth and Alan for inviting me into their home and making me feel so welcome. Here are a set of before and after pictures of what we can do with mirror frames. It's a LOT LESS expensive than removing a mirror from the wall, patching up the holes and then buying an entirely new mirror. There are many styles and colors to choose from. Take a look . . . and then give us a call to help you out with this transformation. <br />

When designing a room the ceiling is often a over looked area. If you do decide to be creative and step out of the design box here are a few guidelines. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1. If you select a bright color for the ceiling keep in mind that it reflects that color back down on you . . . so . . . it would be best not to do this when doing a bathroom or bedroom where you might be putting on make-up or picking your clothes for the day. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuLue2rngR7KsVxffjrdBwiqnJc-tpfuuDQDnA1UzX-FG4NqBXRMC8YlHBj_xDC4QmnFnuHYA8XXx3fTc-QpgmHatx5u4j-4yFG32MxxR05HlHOPE1PM3ZWtc6wJ3KawllIXvZLPfG3gQ/s1600/2013-07-23_2251.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuLue2rngR7KsVxffjrdBwiqnJc-tpfuuDQDnA1UzX-FG4NqBXRMC8YlHBj_xDC4QmnFnuHYA8XXx3fTc-QpgmHatx5u4j-4yFG32MxxR05HlHOPE1PM3ZWtc6wJ3KawllIXvZLPfG3gQ/s640/2013-07-23_2251.png" width="632" /></a></div>
<br />
2. When putting a chandelier above your bed you might want to look for one with a diffuser on the bottom. That way you don't have to lay in bed and look at light bulbs brightly shining while you are trying to relax.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCCyXr-3T7p_H1svMls12wZ_00b6aJtbuEs7MxlTeLFYE5K_CUfrjke_3FgnJEh0UiH_9Ae0az2038pW0q0TubBjWrZpGTOD2z0q_-kukqWK3MfQ1N5gVtqT_tShm6nHVqEjz3pnAIJEk/s1600/2013-08-19_1658.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="602" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCCyXr-3T7p_H1svMls12wZ_00b6aJtbuEs7MxlTeLFYE5K_CUfrjke_3FgnJEh0UiH_9Ae0az2038pW0q0TubBjWrZpGTOD2z0q_-kukqWK3MfQ1N5gVtqT_tShm6nHVqEjz3pnAIJEk/s640/2013-08-19_1658.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Hope this helps when thinking about the ceiling in the room you are giving a face lift. Built-ins can make such a difference in a room. Below I love how the sconce lighting was thought of ahead of time and built into this special wall of storage. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsbHDrP6mg6T7j-ODqRBVBuKTCiTxUmdcCCz5GidXMFGPyQIGVvszgl0EgUZYXSnqXMkWps7wE330M17TSMvn7n3g976h0IH1oISHV8MTRPQ0HpPYH0JOZAQtY9TAXny_RE-sPbI3eTJU/s1600/29ce50f6ced26f56f46f85aa07c7c7e9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsbHDrP6mg6T7j-ODqRBVBuKTCiTxUmdcCCz5GidXMFGPyQIGVvszgl0EgUZYXSnqXMkWps7wE330M17TSMvn7n3g976h0IH1oISHV8MTRPQ0HpPYH0JOZAQtY9TAXny_RE-sPbI3eTJU/s640/29ce50f6ced26f56f46f85aa07c7c7e9.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Why not frame out your windows with a couple of built-ins? <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRrnHj9q2Xp-xd13RYxZf81o9zOHhRbqilGShPcj08WhGROZsUSSKVJY0DtKjOY6_6-Pb9npN-et2gdKeKRzpmBOGTS97KFQr_ChmeWCq26FnKXJHZJhdwCZiZbI2Y3CRmQ_bgGdNlyKQ/s1600/i-g5t6MMb.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="482" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRrnHj9q2Xp-xd13RYxZf81o9zOHhRbqilGShPcj08WhGROZsUSSKVJY0DtKjOY6_6-Pb9npN-et2gdKeKRzpmBOGTS97KFQr_ChmeWCq26FnKXJHZJhdwCZiZbI2Y3CRmQ_bgGdNlyKQ/s640/i-g5t6MMb.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
In this dining I would use these built-ins for the those large serving dishes that are really like pieces of art.<br />

When thinking about area rugs don't forget about the kitchen, yep the kitchen. Most often it will look so much better if you have a larger area rug rather than just a simple rug in front of the sink, etc. </div>

I am so sorry I've been absent from this BLOG. I have been blessed to be crazy busy. When a client mentioned to me today that she had been reading my BLOG I had a major guilt trip that I had not posted in awhile. Lets just say that I'm a designer that BLOGS, NOT a blogger that designs. <br />
<br />
Back to design . . .<br />
<br />
Let's talk about children's rooms, did you know that we carry some wonderful lines of very well made furniture for these little people in our lives? Just today I had the pleasure of helping a mother design a room for her beautiful young daughter. We selected the colors lavender and green for the walls and will bring in fresh white furniture and very happy bedding. Below are few pictures of the pieces we are considering. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHokEuQqmpD8HQy43xDnw2s5coLA-Ex3RnumqGYtvPaCUBFoptaHmdmpZtnL5WpHI7MtwPs4oEdptNtyXYhiKkWZKfaszrosW2SlbNE3Kabc55tbkvWzNjSuKZHJZ83epSMUtHb3nHjiA/s1600/2013-07-08_1730.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="446" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHokEuQqmpD8HQy43xDnw2s5coLA-Ex3RnumqGYtvPaCUBFoptaHmdmpZtnL5WpHI7MtwPs4oEdptNtyXYhiKkWZKfaszrosW2SlbNE3Kabc55tbkvWzNjSuKZHJZ83epSMUtHb3nHjiA/s640/2013-07-08_1730.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Just remember if you are using under bed storage, make sure there is enough room to pull open the drawers (unlike this photo). <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqUS5XyHU5H9QS-3fu7ap2Mo65zLhiWGg9npeAFGQWCNdgx7pWCjU2ZD2h2y74skuc6rLrBDHAtvJUodh6NGcUVmeCKA981crkL_m2H7gRlJjq-97wag-815lPsXR3NhdSD1eNVgB4-QA/s1600/2013-07-08_1734.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="410" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqUS5XyHU5H9QS-3fu7ap2Mo65zLhiWGg9npeAFGQWCNdgx7pWCjU2ZD2h2y74skuc6rLrBDHAtvJUodh6NGcUVmeCKA981crkL_m2H7gRlJjq-97wag-815lPsXR3NhdSD1eNVgB4-QA/s640/2013-07-08_1734.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
WOW! Look at this under bed storage. You could store the kids games, craft supplies, seasonal clothes, books, sporting equipment, etc.<br />

<span style="text-align: left;">Just today I ordered some wallpaper for a client, it's not busy and I even hesitate to say it but it's a BORDER! Ok, ok, I've said it!!!!! I've designed it to be hung approximately 1/3 of the way down the wall and the border itself is rather tall, it's 18", which is pretty much the width of a standard roll of wallpaper. Once it is hung we will place a very rustic wood border on the top and bottom of it which will be painted in a burnt red color. When we have finished the room I will be sure to take a few pictures and share with all of you, but for now these wallpaper pictures will serve as our inspiration of the day. Enjoy . . . </span></div>

A powder room is the perfect place to hang wallpaper, it adds so much piz-zazzzz to the normally boring room. <br />

Even subtle wallpaper can add depth and interest to a room. This client lives in a spectacular neighborhood in the middle of San Diego. The homes are fairly new, built within the last five years, and most of them have gone with true Californian landscaping, using many drought resistant plants. I shot a couple of pictures I thought I would share . . . PS - It's another gorgeous day in San Diego! <br />

(Above) - Loving the small patio above the front door. I'm sure there is a beautiful view from there where you can sit and enjoy a morning cup or coffee, or a great night like tonight a BIG glass of wine.<br />

<br />
(Above) - This home had no grass just beautiful shrubbery that looks like it still needs to fill in a little. What caught my eye was the arbor over the front door which had a Spanish mission style. <br />
<br />
I managed to make it back to the studio without anyone calling the police on this lady stalker wondering around the neighborhood with her camera. My husband will be thrilled to know I've managed to keep out of trouble for another day :)<br />
<br />
Have a great weekend everyone! <br />

Did you know that we carry outdoor furniture and rugs, can make cushions for your existing outdoor furniture, and we even carry a full line of Sunbrella Indoor/Outdoor fabric. Here are a few ideas to get you thinking about making some changes or additions . . .<br />

If you are looking to make a statement in your bedroom but have traditional or lower ceiling height, this might be the answer. It will help to draw your eye up, giving you a sense of more space in your bedroom. Using decorative drapery tiebacks, you mount them high above the top of your bed, then have a drapery treatment made that is suspended from these "tiebacks". </div>

Are you or someone in your family expecting a baby and struggling with what the nursery should look like? If doesn't have to be pale pink, blue or yellow. Think out of the box and try to come up with a look that can grow with your new addition. Here are few examples that do not follow the traditional view of what every expects. </div>

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
When meeting with a client and discussing what we can ad to a wall to make it memorable, so many people are caught up in the idea of having to hang a picture. Let's get away from that idea and think three dimensional. Below are a couple of ideas . . . </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0mdkEeIWnaGnGAZvTKG4xp3RNHn78rIlgx_EJHwZlGqaqkxMTiSJPde0PTkNu00E9CAsJ3tnXd0w_aid9EflQAY3yaALIhyphenhyphen0_5uP5-dQAElCYOeDRL_nD9Gv_kfyTK43f_bSS9SgZjAk/s1600/377.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0mdkEeIWnaGnGAZvTKG4xp3RNHn78rIlgx_EJHwZlGqaqkxMTiSJPde0PTkNu00E9CAsJ3tnXd0w_aid9EflQAY3yaALIhyphenhyphen0_5uP5-dQAElCYOeDRL_nD9Gv_kfyTK43f_bSS9SgZjAk/s640/377.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
(Above) - Why not bring in an artist to paint something on the wall and then add an actual element that makes it two/three dimensional. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSsrWf8wxzIKjpwMWh9bEvTancflaGNo0xL_ks1pRuZBuNNVRFrRudjs54eshjGoPIuMAlGAvUBGyKeXKcOrLhu8e48PcGJq6ZgZVRD_NSptmRI7nbm05-lz8iT6sGBU1e9BeIIQfB6zE/s1600/2012-09-07_2252.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSsrWf8wxzIKjpwMWh9bEvTancflaGNo0xL_ks1pRuZBuNNVRFrRudjs54eshjGoPIuMAlGAvUBGyKeXKcOrLhu8e48PcGJq6ZgZVRD_NSptmRI7nbm05-lz8iT6sGBU1e9BeIIQfB6zE/s640/2012-09-07_2252.png" width="422" /></a></div>
<br />
(Above) - I'm big on having things personalized so it only makes since I like this wall initial. I know you can obtain paper mache initials at <a href="http://www.paper-source.com/">Paper Source</a> or wooden initials at <a href="http://www.potterybarn.com/">Pottery Barn</a>, then just go to town; paint them, wrap them in beautiful fabric, cover them in photos, hang them with beautiful ribbon, you name it, make it your own. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizSll-RpT9QgafuPEFmU7OiwncNZxzU91pFivDrxUbdnwNoUnaHOmDWOrOsUpmoYNq0hMi8Ep6wnKrXkAqsd1QeIlNJAtsWAX_UNvaDuj2J_v3BUD3GUsG7zdYRwqU11hMdrLZ8wY9wDw/s1600/fun.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizSll-RpT9QgafuPEFmU7OiwncNZxzU91pFivDrxUbdnwNoUnaHOmDWOrOsUpmoYNq0hMi8Ep6wnKrXkAqsd1QeIlNJAtsWAX_UNvaDuj2J_v3BUD3GUsG7zdYRwqU11hMdrLZ8wY9wDw/s640/fun.jpg" width="424" /></a></div>
<br />
(Above) - Why not hit up a salvage yard and purchase some old neon signs/letters/numbers. You can paint them, re-install some lighting or just simply hang as they are.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiwat8yH4c7y_fbydG12MeFbvgQpBXJ8imN6UZKHC16ZkpKGKE8DwjT_LswrY0V1iV_GgpC6lY0hPYU6mpBpYc7xfgP9caj3Mi4OGUghD-iKFfkuEJSRZYLx8hewjKK-46hzbBiTFoF9s/s1600/i-9RRpH6s.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiwat8yH4c7y_fbydG12MeFbvgQpBXJ8imN6UZKHC16ZkpKGKE8DwjT_LswrY0V1iV_GgpC6lY0hPYU6mpBpYc7xfgP9caj3Mi4OGUghD-iKFfkuEJSRZYLx8hewjKK-46hzbBiTFoF9s/s640/i-9RRpH6s.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
(Above) - I am a lover of fabric, and I know I'm not alone. For a creative wall collection you could purchase embroidery/quilting hoops and frame your favorite fabrics and make a featured montage. You might also think of painting all of the hoops in a color to coordinate the collection. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFpI2UiRUmq6kDi6qLKl37NZuTm4k9P02t56QMdDAHPNcSRl3X0UExjjpK8sAACRd9SJ8ALvQvHIajV1r0FX3y099hFiki9pRIH0GHYQMR2SVDoByz_sjDAhnFYPebFtXzEMgfRiph_vE/s1600/IMG_0373.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFpI2UiRUmq6kDi6qLKl37NZuTm4k9P02t56QMdDAHPNcSRl3X0UExjjpK8sAACRd9SJ8ALvQvHIajV1r0FX3y099hFiki9pRIH0GHYQMR2SVDoByz_sjDAhnFYPebFtXzEMgfRiph_vE/s640/IMG_0373.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
(Above) - Here in San Diego we have lots of these goodies . . . beautiful shells. Why not gather some treasures from your favorite vacation spot, purchase a shadow box at your favorite framing or craft store, install a mat in a color to compliment your room, and glue away.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtWRlITSkFd0WUpl1u9tYK6dGFOUBn64GcknLivYAUu3lKYALHizT9ImJnFFNt-xNmtPNqNcaQqgP3tX7v-2POOJnIzFVOvHp5rQeAFj-ktz6dlgiEoUfNVY_Zc3VXSWPE89-eQ8DENXg/s1600/IMG_7520.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtWRlITSkFd0WUpl1u9tYK6dGFOUBn64GcknLivYAUu3lKYALHizT9ImJnFFNt-xNmtPNqNcaQqgP3tX7v-2POOJnIzFVOvHp5rQeAFj-ktz6dlgiEoUfNVY_Zc3VXSWPE89-eQ8DENXg/s640/IMG_7520.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
(Above) - I'm seeing a lot of this done lately, pictures hung from wooden antique pants hangers. I love this idea because of my love for photography. I could change the photos on the daily bases. When I get around to changing up my studio, I think I will use this idea to feature jobs that I have completed. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYKavdjAK-8EZvHi7A1iyUT4_H2kLirQHTI0jdXnZReZJtFHDYcgbOEsVxjq6_m1utC-mZeDCPveIikTbJafqilYDiabWvKz6kZbg1hjvIE-vgUkKRs1eyIsMRA4WtPI6bnkMhqkXTcRY/s1600/the+cavender+diary+den.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="422" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYKavdjAK-8EZvHi7A1iyUT4_H2kLirQHTI0jdXnZReZJtFHDYcgbOEsVxjq6_m1utC-mZeDCPveIikTbJafqilYDiabWvKz6kZbg1hjvIE-vgUkKRs1eyIsMRA4WtPI6bnkMhqkXTcRY/s640/the+cavender+diary+den.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
(Above) - There is so much about this photo that I love, it just says home! My two favorites are the "RAT" on the wall and the leaning pictures and flag behind the sofa. At this time of year when everyone is talking about "love", why not add some cha-cha-cha- to your home by adding some unexpected ANIMAL prints. Here are a few of my favorites . . .</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4hgCv7mWKfReVpW_NhWVViRy8P6jLPPqZuZl4CESulAxJig-lAn3f-ChGT086V7eXiAtuOZsZpCNzTDAVmNNg19fwbFCAhk9hV2hNluuzfmezthyAL1NLRTVYYwObLMIfejEgs_dyclo/s1600/CCss_101762862.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4hgCv7mWKfReVpW_NhWVViRy8P6jLPPqZuZl4CESulAxJig-lAn3f-ChGT086V7eXiAtuOZsZpCNzTDAVmNNg19fwbFCAhk9hV2hNluuzfmezthyAL1NLRTVYYwObLMIfejEgs_dyclo/s640/CCss_101762862.jpg" width="634" /></a></div>
<br />
(Above) - This room is styled in transitional style making the animal print chair rather unexpected. The size of this chair is perfect for a sitting area in a bedroom. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrs-GIxTG93ql-bY6amIW14Pi5sSwVH9Dq0PACm32kH58Z0GuMspU1edtGhdNbCMB8UFK5LOjTsfzRow8qgxy-hEJbihaZT8rL0JrYWVQ0UBYiwc3sttd41XJyk8HhULZGdK7htYuaCVw/s1600/i-NfzqmgK.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrs-GIxTG93ql-bY6amIW14Pi5sSwVH9Dq0PACm32kH58Z0GuMspU1edtGhdNbCMB8UFK5LOjTsfzRow8qgxy-hEJbihaZT8rL0JrYWVQ0UBYiwc3sttd41XJyk8HhULZGdK7htYuaCVw/s640/i-NfzqmgK.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
(Above) - If you are going to recover some traditional chairs why not add some drama. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAbiquEmf-2PcMxZVxtOfwihit7bVb7dAu-qEdHAJqWmr2OR-ErXhDmtjC4WejZgZQeit13gi153VJlk_OqHsxBGS-uK5K5OYOFBYS9x-4nhKvb4b-xr6ZMicWZnySz1YnxNqps4Q2RCs/s1600/kate+jackson+design+cococozy+cottage+beach+chic+zebra+ottoman+stripes+graphic+floral+upholstery+white.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAbiquEmf-2PcMxZVxtOfwihit7bVb7dAu-qEdHAJqWmr2OR-ErXhDmtjC4WejZgZQeit13gi153VJlk_OqHsxBGS-uK5K5OYOFBYS9x-4nhKvb4b-xr6ZMicWZnySz1YnxNqps4Q2RCs/s640/kate+jackson+design+cococozy+cottage+beach+chic+zebra+ottoman+stripes+graphic+floral+upholstery+white.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
(Above) - Ottomans are always nice to have around for extra seating, but they are also nice because they require very little fabric when you want to make a change to a room. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYvZPT2bXQtohOx_SN_Xn-HdC-sOC8LewhW-_tAhMMmrbwFoOIKK4sTyl9huWHoOAk55qoHBZ5oZAwAH_2EYRLSbNXFen8c1A223t-Z4-aPFjmw_aqHj09xTMxgRgeTBQ4xFctC_piIkY/s1600/Milton+development+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYvZPT2bXQtohOx_SN_Xn-HdC-sOC8LewhW-_tAhMMmrbwFoOIKK4sTyl9huWHoOAk55qoHBZ5oZAwAH_2EYRLSbNXFen8c1A223t-Z4-aPFjmw_aqHj09xTMxgRgeTBQ4xFctC_piIkY/s640/Milton+development+4.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
(Above) - More animal print on a couple of traditional ottomans. <br />

Several months ago I received a phone call from Paul and Lori, a referral from a past client Ms. Jamie who was just as kind as these two. They were in the middle of a remodel and needed help with finalizing paint selections and window treatments. </div>

<br />
(Above) - Here is the finished window treatment installed in the kitchen. These blinds are woven woods called "Averte". They are unlined allowing for light to come through, but also allowing for privacy. Also, take note of the paint color, I think Lori and I made a great decision, it truly warms up the space. <br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
(Above) - Here is a closer look at the kitchen window treatments. Notice the matching valance with the banding of fabric. This fabric is duplicated on the leading edge of the drapery panels which you will see in the family room pictures below. This helps to tie the two rooms together. </div>

(Above) - This is what the family room looked like the first time I arrived. Naked floors, walls and windows. We helped by dressing the windows and putting a warm color of green on the walls. <br />

<br />
(Above) - Here is the room completed. The window draperies have been hung and beautifully frame the sliding glass door leading to the back yard. Here you can see the two different fabrics on the drapery, the main drapery is a paisley print and the 4" leading edge is a small print that is duplicated on the adjoining kitchen window treatments. <br />

Thanks again to Paul and Lori for inviting me into their home, together I think we designed some great additions. </div>

If you are looking for a new look for your master bedroom, but have been scarred by the cost of custom bedding, why not combine ready made and custom? Below are a few examples . . . </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCGF4W1uPWhwoN-MIChairhbZIfEhmnfpCHuoY1jzjh62AUcXUdO9TP9q-HgZh42FVmX68y_bTy_TThvVRuB_VSel5_FObajVBmYOrIG7fGI9SXqaMg16Sd6LrQgv8jwySB8j5xuYcsTQ/s1600/5_bedclose1-600x414.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="440" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCGF4W1uPWhwoN-MIChairhbZIfEhmnfpCHuoY1jzjh62AUcXUdO9TP9q-HgZh42FVmX68y_bTy_TThvVRuB_VSel5_FObajVBmYOrIG7fGI9SXqaMg16Sd6LrQgv8jwySB8j5xuYcsTQ/s640/5_bedclose1-600x414.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Above, with the exception of the three printed decorative pillows, everything was purchased off of the shelf. What I love is how the three pillows pull the entire look together. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUadtU3ED30oJunblvW3iLoI7oV31d_Z_goxslTWH-lhN0ulP90iaFOVxpWaznbDCMKC396a_nFSJ0dENi_KCrsl1FWo0N36QcExKzfmrwR8YKPRSEfN9LtjWQkKDtHPZR39pQ25OxKi8/s1600/2012-03-22_190226_thumb%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="554" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUadtU3ED30oJunblvW3iLoI7oV31d_Z_goxslTWH-lhN0ulP90iaFOVxpWaznbDCMKC396a_nFSJ0dENi_KCrsl1FWo0N36QcExKzfmrwR8YKPRSEfN9LtjWQkKDtHPZR39pQ25OxKi8/s640/2012-03-22_190226_thumb%5B1%5D.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Again, everything above is ready made with the exception of the printed coverlet, which pulls the entire look together. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSDNaTzWeffMBJzBYza7U7XO5K2j8EFycZOeEjRwMRWRAbgMlEHi-rUeZ-Trb1lBK9VknJXPMqnB8pCIddd6aTLPgm0OCjvQAmDrcm4M-kjq2mMfWtzkY593Ta7C5O4o7SHEdrsBbcKno/s1600/2012-09-25_2042.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSDNaTzWeffMBJzBYza7U7XO5K2j8EFycZOeEjRwMRWRAbgMlEHi-rUeZ-Trb1lBK9VknJXPMqnB8pCIddd6aTLPgm0OCjvQAmDrcm4M-kjq2mMfWtzkY593Ta7C5O4o7SHEdrsBbcKno/s640/2012-09-25_2042.png" width="444" /></a></div>
<br />
(Above) - Why not take a ready made bed skirt and add a banding fabric. The only exception I would make to this bedroom design is that I would add the banding fabric to some where on top of the bed. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiip-2Svvauq3iNydGPBAU1OSOWZnXqi5zp72G5KvLdJLgpqNILW4fanSXDSVYFZ7mODT20W8uUt3VZZoC1Ss1mO1m5IeU0Cdh4fNRM_2H8rUh2HlJXtLKrW9AmhQ8l9sAY6BLRWP9ZhBM/s1600/224617100135903132_n7VYgtu5_f.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="512" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiip-2Svvauq3iNydGPBAU1OSOWZnXqi5zp72G5KvLdJLgpqNILW4fanSXDSVYFZ7mODT20W8uUt3VZZoC1Ss1mO1m5IeU0Cdh4fNRM_2H8rUh2HlJXtLKrW9AmhQ8l9sAY6BLRWP9ZhBM/s640/224617100135903132_n7VYgtu5_f.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
(Above) - Here you see the same fabric used in several different ways and again combined with ready made items. The beautiful tufted gray headboard is covered in the same fabric as the bench at the base of the bed. The euro shams, bedskirt and roman shades are all made of the same fabric. The paisley and white coverlets are both ready made. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtcQgPwnuHI2PyM5cDRnpRY_BHHPOVotjPyQkWB2MGL5s9V_rk-BR5u1kWCn4NKmOWgvFOcagmm_nIcjs1OGNLe4vVc2_oe8LReerbLlWkQmeqleE50ljE8bpGKwqYxJBOVw-mLGAIji0/s1600/224617100135903136_WHgoAdfo_f.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtcQgPwnuHI2PyM5cDRnpRY_BHHPOVotjPyQkWB2MGL5s9V_rk-BR5u1kWCn4NKmOWgvFOcagmm_nIcjs1OGNLe4vVc2_oe8LReerbLlWkQmeqleE50ljE8bpGKwqYxJBOVw-mLGAIji0/s640/224617100135903136_WHgoAdfo_f.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
(Above ) - A custom white welting was added to an existing blanket and the custom neck roll pillow adds both the color of the blanket and the welting. <br />
<br />
How can we help make your bedroom have that custom look? Susan Sutherlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06374850649080565499noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7189306870805603718.post-35777288890868532462013-02-01T16:05:00.000-08:002013-02-01T16:05:00.754-08:00She's Back! As you may or may not know, December and January were hard months for me, I'm thrilled to see February on the calendar today. After suffering with a herniated disc in my lower back since August, on Christmas Eve it ruptured. I was rushed to the hospital by some wonderful EMT's, and underwent emergency surgery on December 26. Merry Christmas Susan! :) <br />
<br />
During my absence I had a great team assisting me with finishing up some jobs. Thanks to all of them for assisting my great clients and coming through by going above and beyond. <br />
<br />
I'm excited to say I'm healed and back in the office and taking new appointments and meeting up with past clients. I feel better than ever and have been given the go ahead by my medical team. So ...... give me a call and lets get together and discuss your design needs. Susan Sutherlinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06374850649080565499noreply@blogger.com0
