As we leave summer behind my thoughts forge ahead to cool, crisp air and the appearance of colorful autumn leaves, my favorite time of year. I welcome the fall with open arms, along with mother nature's influences on our home's decor. Shades of red, orange, gold and green will make an appearance in my decorating scheme this year.
Use the season's harvest in your decor - a bowl of bright red pomegranates, berries or an arrangement of spare branches, all signals that fall is here.
The simple addition of accent pillows and throws in an earthy palette turns up the heat in this otherwise neutral family/dining room.
Insulate while you decorate by adding heavy drapery to bare windows. This not only conserves energy, but also adds visual weight to any airy space.
